2020

From the idea of capturing a timeless picture of the ultimate object of art history – the human face – I developed a photographic apparatus of mirrors and lense labyrinths from different centuries which devours time and light. The camera centipede is a mechanical beast that drawns the present into the past and back to create a touchable object for the future. It seizes the moment and moves it through time by digesting a static image through its light-consuming body parts ... to give birth to a new, changed perspective. Reality gets questioned and relativity gets exposed.

In an exhibition, the centipede comes to life as an interactive installation. It can be used like a traditional photobooth and with different films. People can decide if they want to keep their polaroids or hang them to the wall. It's interesting to see how differently everyone plays and experiments with the two remote controlled adjustable lights and (exposure) time.
